GIS-K1: Wi-Fi Hotspot Gateway

The GIS-K1 is a wireless Hotspot gateway and provides a small business with all the features to provide a full function WiFi Hotspot for up to 25 concurrent users. Guests and visitors who require Internet access can be managed via the login page, authentication, firewall, speed control, content filter and a disclaimer file that can be edited.

The GIS-K1 is popular with bars and restaurants, however it is also used by many other types of businesses that provide Internet access as a service to the public. Popular applications are a clinic or dentist waiting room, and a law firm reception area.

The GIS-K1 has a firewall that can is used to connect business computers and point of sale terminals to one DSL or cable line. The GIS-K1 firewall provides PCI DSS compliance by blocking any attempt to access the PoS, either from the public wireless network or from the Internet.

The GIS-K1 has a powerful wireless that can cover a very large area inside a business premises. The product is shipped with an omni-directional antenna which means is should be installed in the center of the area to be covered. Other types of antennas are available for different coverage areas. An optional Power over Internet (PoE) kit is available for the GIS-K1.

* The maximum number of concurrent users for the GIS-K1 is specified with a backhaul circuit of 10Mb/sec and with users sending/receiving emails and viewing web sites. The maximum value will be reduced when the Internet backhaul is slower than the recommended speed or when the user traffic includes download/upload of large files, gaming, video streaming or VoIP.
